Make it shine
From my experience buying, selling and renting, the one bit of advice I’d give to anyone selling a property is to make it shine.
What does that mean? Clean it from top to bottom to make it gleam. Remove or replace old, worn-out rugs. Add a touch of paint if you can. Tidy up any loose wiring or holes in the walls that may have appeared and been left ignored for a while. Clear away any clutter – put it in storage for a short while if you have to.
Why do all this? Just take a look at any listing. The first thing most people look at are the photos and a scruffy, untidy homes is a real turn off. There’s a good reason for that: it gives the impression that the house has hasn’t been cared for and makes people wonder what other problems there may be.
Do yourself a favour; tidy up and present your home in its best light. There’s a good chance it will sell faster and it may even improve the sale price.
